What would my son would miss about me if I was kidnapped to Mars.

So thinking about the new movie Mars needs Moms I was wondering what my son would miss about me being gone.  Mars needs Moms is a new movie where Mars kidnaps moms and the kids go to rescue their mom.  So I asked my son what would be ten things you would miss about your mom? so here it is.

The first thing I asked my son was would he miss me.  "Yes!"  He answered.  Then would you come after and rescue me? "Yes, I will.  Mommy I would rescue you."

Then I got on the subject if I was kidnapped what would miss?

First off he answered "You." It just melted my heart.

Next what would you miss that mom does for you or with you?

He said one thing he would miss is my hugs.  He started off for the first 5years of life a normal autistic child with no touching and no hugging.  Now being just barely 9 he hugs me all the time.  That is a great accomplishment and he would miss hugging me day and night before bed time.

Another morning ritual he would miss is when I wake him up I sing "Goodmorning Starshine"  I sing it especially for him and sing "the earth, the moon, the planets, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Aiden (his fav cousin) Babylove (our oldest cat)  Chyna (youngest cat) and Sweetheart (our 2yr old dog) and Gilligan (his grandparents cat) says hello!"  It started off as the earth and he made me add each thing in over the years and it has grown with love.

Another thing he would miss is our Homeschooling time that is made around him and his love and problem areas.

Timmy said that he would miss our mommy and son time.  At least once a week me and him go places together and learn.  Sometimes its the Botanical Gardens (at our favorite part by a pond.), or the Zoo.  Sometimes we go to places for kids like the Children's Museum and Amazing Pizza Machine or Chuck e cheese.  We try to make it as fun as possible.

He also mentioned our special nature walks he would miss.  They are walks we take during spring-fall and we talk about nature.  I make nature rhyme songs that he has to figure out and he just loves it when he is in his cooperative mode.

I change songs for him such as the Good Morning Starshine. I also have changed Santa baby to Timmy baby and sing a few lines with his name.  like "Timmy baby your an awfully good boy. Timmy baby your a handful of Joy, Timmy baby you got a lot of toys, " etc.  He really enjoys these songs I sing to him.

He says he would miss the way I smell.  I always wear Vanilla, and Jasmine.  He knows and is very familiar with these scents.

I think this is funny but he said he would miss the way I make him take his vitamins.  I really didn't think this would make it to the line up of things he would miss.  Oddly enough here it is.  I make him take his gummy bears and his Barlean's Chewables.  He loves his vitamins.

He said he would miss our family game time.  The times that mommy always makes sure he wins once in a while.  lol. Wow, I didn't know he knew that. :) What we do for our kids.

Tennis and sport time at the park.  Another fun way mom makes sure he gets his exercise and have fun with his family at the same time.

He would also really miss the times mom makes sure are all about him and enjoy all the fun we have from day to day.  We make sure we stop to smell the roses and remember that he is special and we love him.

One thing he would miss is the meals I would make him..  I make things especially for him and tailored over the years for his needs. Gluten free and other special request.   Like homemade pizza that is healthy and taste good.  He Loves my homemade ice cream especially strawberry.  His father doesn't like making things from scratch but is starting to learn.  He is very picky about his meals and has grown accustomed to mom's homemade meals.  Like Runzas, Oyster stew, Pizza, Ny Cheesecake etc.  For him being autistic and not having his rituals is a very bad idea.

So there it is.  The things my son knows he would miss about me if I was kidnapped by Martians. It's good to know that you would be missed.  Sometimes it makes all the difference in the world.

Making your own soda with Soda Stream

Soda Stream sent me a Soda stream to Test for an Honest review.

http://www.sodastreamusa.com/default.aspx

I first tried this product a little skeptical.  How would you go about making your own soda?  With soda today your getting all chemicals but my husband is so reluctant to give up his sodas no matter what I say.  I myself have never been a fan on soda.  When we got the soda stream in the mail my husband acted like a kid who just got a present and ripped the package open so fast but then kept asking for me to read the directions and put it together.

The product consist of  a stand  with a long narrow tank of CO2.  The machine and the bottles to make your soda in.  Putting together the product was so simple a 3 year old could do it.  There is nothing difficult about this machine.  There is an amazing selection of flavors for soda or soda water.

When I got this I started thinking (oh my) the price of refilling the co2 tanks would be expensive. Then I thought of how much we pay for those 20oz sodas everyday for my son and husband.  After the math I figured the soda stream is the cheaper way.  Not only can you buy the tanks online and exchange but at many local retailers you can do the same. http://www.sodastreamusa.com/where_to_buy.aspx

Taste is another aspect I can say I was worried about.  Would my family like the home made soda taste?  I made the soda and my biggest critics loved it.  They said it actually tasted better than store bought soda.  We made the cola and root beer.  They loved it.  I made the raspberry water for me and it just was simply amazing.  Tasted crisp and just the right amount of flavor.

Health benefits to the soda stream is amazingly better.  We used purified water from our home water pitcher.  I am sure that the soda companies do not care what they put in to your water since the drink is all chemical anyways.  To my amazement they also do flavored seltzer waters.  All natural flavored bottles you add to your water with carbonation.  The only real disappointment I had was that (only a couple kinds) mainly root beer and diet did have some Artificial ingredients but they have such a huge selection of natural ingredient flavors that I would  buy and use for my family.   So, my love for this machine just keeps getting better and better.  http://www.sodastreamusa.com/Sodamix-Flavors-C12.aspx

This machine is cheaper, healthier, tastier,  and simple way for my family to enjoy their soda with out all the extreme prices and nasty chemicals. Just think about what help you will do to the environment when you stop buying all those bottles that fill and destroy our planet.http://www.sodastreamusa.com/environment.aspx  My opinion is that I am totally in love with this machine.    What will be yours?  If you own a machine or if you try this machine please respond and tell us your views.

** I was given a machine and flavors to test in exchange for my Honest opinion and was in no way persuaded by this.  I was not given any monetary compensation for this review.

Stop Reacting Start Responding

I am pretty new to momtv.com I only been going on the chats for a few months now.  So in this time I been hitting and missing the various shows and finding my clear favorites.  With all the good information on this site its hard to really say one show is better than the next.  Its like having your Nutritionalist  , Therapist, Mom, and all those handy people all in one.  I would recommend this therapy to anyone.

Well now I have to admit that I have become strangely addicted to a few shows on there and hate to miss them. Who knew?  My Jewel that I found it s Stop Reacting and Start Responding.  At first with the title I had no Idea what this show would be about.  Let's face it we busy are selves so much anymore that we just are reluctant to take on more but do not want to admit we can not handle more.  I have seen all these shows that brag about what you should do on parenting and make them selves out to be this perfect parent and they can do no wrong.  With Sharon Silver its different.

Stop Reacting and Start Responding is a show by Sharon Silver, Author/Parent Educator.  Sharon Silver gives some of the best advice I can honestly say I have ever heard from anything I have ever found online.  She admits that she was not the perfect parent.  She speaks with experience and is not preachy at all.   Surprisingly each show is different and seems to touch on something in my life.  Like each show was meant just for me.     I would recommend anyone to check it out.  http://www.momtv.com/stop-reacting-start-responding.    So, Please Join me in the chat room as she answers our questions to our parenting difficulties.  Wed. at 1pm est, 12pm cst.  on mom.tv.  I know you wont regret it.

Learning to Read is a "Blast" with ClickN KIDS!

To me Learning to read is special moment in ones life.  Once I learned to read I couldn't get enough books.  That is still true now.  So its hard for me to admit my son Timmy who has Aspergers is having real trouble with it. He knew his sounds young and forgot them all.  So we tried it by memorization of words.  He still forgets them all.  What more can I do.  The one thing my son loves so much is the computer.  So, I thought I will  try PC games.  We went through this and that I can't even count how many games or things I joined up for a year or more online.  Still, no real results.  We went from the 2 year old that could hook up a PlayStation and A boy who knew his way around the computer before three, to a boy who couldn't get the concept of reading. For one the never gives up I was so close to it.

http://www.clicknkids.com/Public/ReadingProgram.php

Next thing I know I am starting my blog and its given me a way in to try new things.  While looking around for companies to sponsor me that I really like or really wanted to try I found ClickN KIDS. (Learn to Read program)  I saw all the awards they have achieved and so I figured I should write this company and see if they will let me check out the software.   I was so Happy when I got an email back saying I could test it out for a month and all it would cost is an honest review.  That is easy enough right?!?  Yes, except I have my problems with my writing skills as I have mentioned before.  I hope I can do them justice.    I signed up the kids to try it out and put it to the ultimate test.  My son Timmy.  So far He is really improving and I am amazed.  So thank you ClickNKids I just might have to continue my membership.

My husband loses or throws away my sons worksheets I have him do.  This can be frustrating.  So with everything online and no mess or storage worries this really is a good idea for my family.  I can check his progress and watch my son learn with the ease of a computer.  So no lost papers or cards or videos to get ruined.

Normally I am a strictly by the book but then life happens.  I have purchased curriculums that cost me 200+  I have done the favorite kids shows learning sites for another big chuck out of our daily living money.   The Programs prices are below and to me its well worth it and a bargain compared to what I am used to.  What would make it better? Monthly payment plans! For you teachers out there, they have a school program with a low price per child.  That is great.  I would know, I am a teacher in training.

So, I would recommend this program to anyone who has kids.  If your kids needs a little help or needs a lot and its never to early to start.  For a Homeschooler like me this is a necessity.

Current Prices are found here https://www.clicknkids.com/Pay/OrderNow.php
ClickNRead is on sale for one time Payment  59.85 (19.95 for an additional child.) or you can split it up into 3 payments.
ClickNSpell is on sale for one time Payment  49.95 (14.95 for an additional child)  or you can split it up into 3 payments.

For an honest review I was given a free month trial to ClickNKids (ClickNLearn).  This is my honest review and was in no way persuaded one way or another by anyone.

Time4Learning.com Review

Time4Learning  is a Homeschooling website that Help parents with curriculum,
grading, worksheets, and much more.  Its rated in the top100 by
homeschooling.com.   I decided to check it out to see how my son does also  I
need all the help I can get ..  Its not just for Home-schools. Time4Learning
has lessons for after school or during the summer to keep the knowledge your
child learns in school fresh in there minds.  The programs are easy and they
have free lesson demos.  The parent forum is a good idea for me so I can keep
in touch with other users that use the software.  This software will grow with my
kids as they learn they are able to go to the next level.  With a wide variety of
grade levels and activities it is hard for them to get bored.

My son Timmy learns best on the computer and with videos.  What kid doesn't
love the computer? His autism makes school work a fight.   It was so much
easier getting him to do his school work during the trial.  He wants me to
keep the software.  Which is rarebecause he does not like to do school
work at all.   He started the program and seems to be doing great on it.
It seems easy for him to navigate and get to the work he needs to be doing next.
With his learning problems its great to see him working through the work so easily.
I would recommend this program to friends and probably will continue my
membership.

If you try it let me know how it works for you.
** I was given this product free to try in exchange for a honest review of the product.
